What if your favourite museum was also your neighbourhood’s favourite place to gather?
Community Fri-YAY! is IME’s monthly invitation to experience the museum as more than a place to simply visit but a space to meet, create, rehearse, share ideas, spend time with family and friends, or simply enjoy the company of others in a welcoming cultural space.
On the first Friday of every month, entry to the museum is free, encouraging Bengaluru’s families, young people, senior citizens, volunteers, neighbourhood groups, and community partners to make the museum their own.
Whether you’re looking for a peaceful afternoon surrounded by music, a creative space to connect with your community, or a chance to discover something new, there’s always a place for you at IME’s Community Fri-YAY!

This Month at Community Fri-YAY!

Community Sing-Along
Join IME’s volunteers for a sing-along jam session with the Grand Piano and Flute leading the charge in the IME Lobby. Museum visitors are welcome to join and keep the songs rolling. No experience needed, just bring your voice and enthusiasm!

A Date with the Didgeridoo
Get to know the Australian Aboriginal instrument with internationally-renowned Indian didgeridoo artist Brandon Colaco.
Brandon’s name is synonymous with the didgeridoo in India. He has developed a distinctive style fusing contemporary didgeridoo sounds with Indian classical rhythms to create a unique and fresh soundscape. Brandon, and his music project Two Eyed Wizard, have even been nominated as a Finalist in the India Australia Business and Community Alliance (IABCA) Awards 2026 for creative excellence and contribution to bilateral cultural ties. This Fri-YAY, Brandon takes over the Instrument Gallery at IME, making it come alive with the distinctive resonance of the didgeridoo. You can chat to him about the history and legacy of the instrument and maybe even try playing it!
Free and open to everyone.

Bring Your Community to IME
Community Fri-YAY! is also an open invitation to community groups, hobby clubs, neighbourhood associations, music circles, artists, volunteers, and cultural collectives to activate the museum through informal gatherings, rehearsals, pop-up workshops, volunteer-led activities, discussions, and neighbourhood showcases.

• Community Fri-YAY! offers free general admission to the museum as part of IME’s commitment to increasing access and encouraging community participation.
• Educational programmes, guided tours, facilitated visits, workshops, and other museum staff-led experiences continue to be offered on a paid basis and must be booked in advance.
• Schools, educational institutions, corporates, and organised groups are welcome to explore the museum independently during Community Fri-YAY! or book guided experiences, learning programmes, workshops, or venue rentals through IME’s regular services at applicable rates.
