Annual Music Discovery Summer Camp 2026
Bombe Aata: Play with Puppets
IME’s much-awaited summer camp is back with a vibrant splash of sound, story, and structure.
Bombe Aata is a dynamic six-day workshop designed for children aged 8 to 12. In an era dominated by digital screens, this programme invites young creators to step away from the virtual world and reconnect with their tactile imagination through the ancient art of puppetry and the universal power of song.
This workshop goes far beyond simple craft. It uses music as a primary narrative engine to explore core values such as friendship, self-love, and acceptance. By blending the rhythmic energy of folk traditions with the discipline of theatre, the program helps children find their own unique voices in an environment that prizes collaboration over competition.
What Children Will Learn
Tactile Craft: Transform recycled everyday objects into unique characters.
Musical Stories: Use theatre songs to drive and deepen a story.
Soundscapes: Build immersive audio environments using household items.
Voice & Reflex: Practice voice modulation and “Play Theatre” games to sharpen spontaneity.
Creative Planning: Learn the basics of storyboarding and plot construction.
Collaboration: Develop leadership and teamwork through group performances.
About the Facilitator
The workshop is led by Surabhi Vasisht, a prominent figure in the Bengaluru theatre circuit with nearly two decades of experience. As the founder of Namkampani, Surabhi is a versatile artist—acting as a director, actor, and technical expert. A graduate of the prestigious Ninasam Institute, she has collaborated with legendary troupes like Sanket and Indian Ensemble. Beyond the professional stage, she is the creative force behind “Bachha Party,” a beloved initiative dedicated to bringing high-energy, high-impact theatre experiences to children.
Final Presentation
The camp concludes with a showcase where learners take centre stage to present their hand-built puppets, original stories, and musical soundscapes to an audience of family and friends.
