Rang Aman Ke by Yalgaar

Songs of freedom, equality, justice and camaraderie
It is not often India’s constitution is thought of as the inspiration behind musical performance. But on the seventy-sixth anniversary of India becoming a constitution, we hope you will join us for a poetry and song concert, rooted in Ambedkarite Shahiri jalsa that does just that.
Rang Aman Ke explores the values of freedom, equality, justice and togetherness not just as enshrined in the Constitution, but also as practised in India today. Presented by Mumbai-based theatre collective Yalgaar Lok Sanskriti Manch, this performance brings together works of poet saints and revolutionary poets from different moments in India’s history. The performance is an interactive exchange with the audience as we all collaborate to make meaning and find solidarity in the times we live in.
About the Artistes: Yalgaar’s Sathi Band
Indian folk fusion band Yalgaar’s Sathi Collective was born of the humanitarian cultural movement spreading through rural and suburban Maharashtra. Through their music, they carry this movement across the country, combining it with the values enshrined in the Constitution of India. The band was formed in 2019 by social artist and musician Dhammarakshit (Dhamma). They see their roots in Indian folk music and theatre as well as Bhakti and Sufi poetry. As believers in a people’s art and culture, Yalgaar sings for justice, peace, love and harmony.
