Join us for a heartfelt musical evening as we celebrate the 101st birthday of the incomparable Mohammed Rafi — a voice that continues to inspire generations of music lovers. This special free open mic invites singers, musicians, and Rafi fans of all ages to take the stage and honour the maestro through his timeless melodies. This event also celebrates the launch of IME’s online exhibition, Mohammed Rafi: The Golden voice of Hindi Cinema, created for Google Arts & Culture.
So, whether you want to perform your favourite Rafi classic or simply soak in an evening of soulful nostalgia, this is your space to be part of the enduring magic of one of India’s greatest playback singers.
About the IME Open Mic series:
The IME Open Mic is a monthly community event that invites participants of all age groups with a desire to perform on an open stage. Whether it is to share original music, hone performance skills, or simply overcome stage fright in a supportive and creative environment, this gathering hopes to be an inclusive, non-judgemental and genre agnostic space and a platform for free musical expression. Poetry, singing, instruments are all welcome at the IME Open Mic!

20 slots for performance are available and each artist will be given 6 mins on stage.
The Open Mic was conceived in 2022 by the second Youth Advisory Board, IME’s unique programme for young people (14 to 17 year olds) created in collaboration with ReReeti Foundation.
