IME proudly presents the second edition of Women’s History Month – A Celebration of Women in Music, a festival dedicated to honoring and amplifying the vital but often under-recognized contributions of women in India’s rich music landscape.
This month-long festival showcases a diverse and dynamic lineup featuring:
- Performances by Padma Shri Dandamudi Sumathi, Grammy-nominated Varijashree Venugopal, Rimpa Siva, Wild Wild Women and Vidya Shah
- A Lavani production tracing the history and evolution of Maharashtra’s folk tradition
- Documentaries on the legendary Annapurna Devi, Seetha Ratnakar, and the vibrant traditions of community singing from Bihar and Haryana
- Dialogues with filmmakers who have documented the journeys of women in music
Join us as we illuminate stories, celebrate achievements, and acknowledge the lasting influence of women in shaping Indian music.
