Panchamukhi – five faces of laya

About

Laya is the inherent repetitive rhythm experienced in music. Be it our heartbeat or a complex tala, there is laya in it. In this Masterclass, our Learning Centre Academic Council member Vidwan B C Manjunath takes participants on a journey of laya from the perspective of four Talas and five Jaatis, with an interactive exercise woven around each of them.

With expertise not only in Indian music but also in Jazz and Global styles, Vidwan B C Manjunath is a leading figure in the world of music and a passionate practitioner of Konnakol, the art of vocal percussion in Carnatic music.
