Women’s History Month
IME Museum wishes you all a very Happy International Women’s Day.
Women’s history in music often remains in the shadows, but their contributions are profound – spanning genres and generations. From folk traditions to classical compositions, women have played a pivotal role in shaping musical landscapes worldwide.
In recognition of these histories from Indian Music, IME presents ‘Women’s History Month’. Throughout the month, we will bring to you a series of carefully curated programs that will shine light on lesser-known narratives of women from music history.
Join us as we celebrate the roles of ritual singers, courtesans, women of the Bhakti tradition and more in shaping Indian music.
Programs are free and open to all.
