WHM 2025 Rimpa Siva
About
In our concluding weekend of Women’s History Month, we invite you for a Tabla recital by Rimpa Siva accompanied by Satish Kolli on the Harmonium, on Sat, 29th March, 7 PM at IME, PT.
Recognized as one of the foremost tabla exponents of her generation, Rimpa Siva is credited with expanding the space for women in the world of Indian percussion. Trained in the Farrukhabad Gharana under her father, Pandit Swapan Siva, she was identified as a prodigy early in her career, earning the title Princess of Tabla from Ustad Zakir Hussain at the age of nine. Her playing is marked by technical precision, deep rhythmic exploration, and an innovative approach to solo tabla performance.
This program is part of IME’s Women’s History Month — a festival curated to honor and amplify the vital, yet often under-recognized contributions of women in shaping India’s music landscape.
