Shukravara Katte: Let’s Dance!
A celebration of music, community and belonging the first Friday of every month
What if your favourite museum was also your neighbourhood’s favourite place to gather, play and have fun?
This November, Shukravara Katte invites you to get moving! We’re turning the Indian Music Experience Museum into a joyful playground of dance, movement, games and storytelling, with activities happening across the museum throughout the day. Come along, join in, try something new, or simply enjoy the fun with family and friends. No matter your level of ability, no experience needed, just bring your curiosity and your enthusiasm!
Shukravara Katte is IME’s monthly invitation to experience the museum as more than a place to visit. It’s a space to meet, create, share ideas, make music, discover new things and enjoy the company of others. On the first Friday of every month, the museum opens its doors for free, welcoming Bengaluru’s families, young people, senior citizens, neighbourhood groups and community partners to make the space their own.
Whether you want to dance, play a game, listen to a story, meet your neighbours or simply spend a different kind of day surrounded by music, there’s a place for you here.
Come as you are. Join in the fun. Make Shukravara Katte yours!
This Month at Shukravara Katte:
12 Noon: Skip Hop to Hip Hop: A Workshop for Children with the Gray Area
A fun, beginner-friendly hip-hop workshop designed for children to explore rhythm, groove, and coordination. Participants will learn the basic foundations of hip-hop and use these movements to build a short, easy-to-follow choreography together.
2 PM onward: Brain Games Katte with Sudha Srinath
4:00 PM: The Great Dance Scavenger Hunt
A museum-wide dance adventure where participants discover different dance styles through clues placed across the Indian Music Experience Museum. Each clue leads them to a new style, introducing its history, cultural context, and defining movements. At every stop, participants learn and perform a foundational step to unlock the next clue. The journey culminates in a final destination, which could reveal a live dance performance, a collective dance challenge, or a prize.
5:00 PM: Rasa Jams: Guided interactive dance sessions with Srinidhi Hedge
Short bursts of energising, playful dance movement and stories for all ages led by dancer, facilitator, creative movement enthusiast and founder of Pravah Rasa, Srinidhi Hegde. Easy to join, with no prior dance experience required.
