Dhrupad masterclass
About
Dhruvapada or Dhrupad is an ancient, revered and profound living tradition of Indian Classical Music. It is a complete system of sound and rhythm, delving deep into the subtle nuances and peculiarities of exploring the Raga (melodic type), tala (beat) and pada (song-text). It also acts as a springboard of Indian Classical Music in understanding the music of the past and in assessing the musical genres that followed later from Dhrupad. In its rendering, one can experience the dimensions and dynamics of musical inflections.
This workshop, suited for vocalists of Karnatik and Hindustani musical genres, will highlight the characteristics of Dhrupad singing with an interactive teaching-learning session for the participants focussing on the fundamentals of the voice, style and performance practice.
