Museums for All – Empathetic Museum Environments for Children from Socially Disadvantaged Backgrounds
The India Music Experience Museums in partnership with Rereeti Foundation is pleased to announce the first panel discussion in the Museums for All series — ‘Empathetic Museum Environments for Children from Socially Disadvantaged Backgrounds’.
Children from socially disadvantaged backgrounds are an often marginalized group with adverse childhood experiences compounded by other deeply ingrained social-economic disparities. While many find it a struggle to connect with a cultural space, others have never visited one in their life. Speaking from experience, the first panel discussion in the ‘Museums for All’ series looks at how museums can become inclusive and empathetic spaces for children from socially disadvantaged backgrounds. Moderated by Tiggy Allen, Rereeti Foundation, it will ask: how can museums create better access for children from socially disadvantaged backgrounds? How can museum professionals and policymakers work together with these communities to make them feel welcomed and make cultural spaces relatable to them?
