So much so that stories from the Ramayana and Mahabharata form the bedrock of Indonesian classical and folk arts, visible across several mediums like Wayang Kulit (shadow puppetry), Kecak Dance, Wayang Wong (dance drama) and various sculptures and architecture.\nThrough this lecture-demonstration, discover how this alliance reflects in contemporary practice in Bali and how performing arts, customs, and traditions are deeply woven into everyday life. Dr. Dibia will introduce the cultural contexts, practices, and ideas that shape Balinese dance, music, theatre, and ritual traditions, bringing them to life through stories, live demonstrations, and insights from his own practice.\nThis is an opportunity to understand Balinese culture and see how its traditions, community spirit, and everyday values have kept these art forms alive across centuries. \nThis programme is part of Bali in Bengaluru, a cultural exchange between Indonesia and Karnataka presented by Param Foundation with the Indian Music Experience Museum as a Curating Partner. \nDr. I Wayan Dibia (Bio) \nDr. I. Wayan Dibia is a renowned Balinese artist, scholar, and choreographer known for bridging Balinese performing arts with Bharatiya epic traditions.\nBorn in Singapadu, Bali, into a family of artists, he trained in dance and music from a young age and later pursued advanced studies in Southeast Asian performing arts,including postgraduate work in the United States.
